Barry Sanders will make a rare media appearance as part of Nissan’s events at the North American International Auto Show.
Sanders will be part of a Nissan party for the media Monday evening at Cheli’s Chili Bar after Nissan reveals a Pathfinder SUV concept and a commercial van at the auto show.
Nissan landed the former Detroit Lions Hall of Fame running back as a result of its partnership with the Heisman Trophy Trust, which each year crowns the best college player of the year with the prestigious Heisman Trophy.
The automaker also is an official partner for the Bowl Championship Series, and the final college football bowl game of the season, between LSU and Alabama takes place on Monday.
The Japanese automaker is returning to the North American Detroit Auto Show this year for the first time since 2008.
“Come early to grab a good seat,” Sanders says in a video invite sent to reporters. “We promise you great food, great beverages and great football.”
Sanders won the Heisman in 1988 when he played for Oklahoma State. He played for the Detroit Lions from 1989 to 1998 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004.
