Nissan boss in U.S. predicts big growth

Nissan is predicting that it is "poised for growth" this year -- with 20 new or refreshed vehicles launching in the next two years.

The new Infiniti JX goes on sales in the summer and a new Altima sedan hits next fall. But the most attention may go, as usual, to the Nissan Leaf, which is moving its production line to Smyrna, Tenn., right next door to its battery plant.

All of that is going to mean more jobs, says Bill Krueger, vice chairman for Nissan Americas. Plants in Mexico and elsewhere are maxed out, so the only way to add output for refreshing economy is to add shifts in the U.S. "We haven't fulfilled our full potential yet as a company," he said at the Automotive News World Congress.
